When you start the app, you are requested to give your photographic trip a name. The apps works by syncing the time from you photo with your time on your camera. Many stock libraries require location details for shots these days, but also keywording can be greatly simplified if you can accurately locate the shot. There is a better, cheaper option however, using an app. In practice, it can sometimes be quite a complicated procedure involving bulky devices attached to your camera or manually adding photos to a map in Lightroom or Aperture. It is a relatively simple term that means adding GPS co-ordinates to your images. Unknown to many users, the search function in Google Maps also allows you to search for a place by entering its GPS coordinates.ġ.Geotagging, a relatively new word to the ever increasing lexicon of photographic terminology. Use Google Maps to Find Where a Photo Was Taken The Latitude and Longitude information as you can see in the image above is available in the form of Degrees, Minutes and Seconds. Next, right click on the Photo and then click on Properties (See image below)ģ. On the next screen, make sure that you are on the Details tab and scroll down till you see a section labelled GPS. The first step would be to access the EXIF data attached to the Photo and see if it contains the information about the location at which the Photo was taken.ġ. Where is the Location Information Stored on Photos? All that you need to do is to access the GPS data attached to a Photo and make use of this data on Google Maps or other websites to find out the location at which the photo was taken. This makes it easy for anyone to find out where a particular photo was taken.
